A new child?

Congrats on an upcoming / new child!!!

I’ll give you some advice I’ve learned, that might help you navigate when you feel lost, and I’ll shut up after this:

Your life is going to be COMPLETELY different going forward, it will be ok and you will figure it out.

You will need to prioritize all your “hobbies” outside of caring for your new child, and drop ones that aren’t meaningful and healthy. Excersize-related ones are super important, and should be kept over all else!

You may get FRUSTRATED as FUCK the first 6 months, for many parents it’s called the “dark times” of stress and lack of sleep. We found this out at work when interviewing new parents for a product we were working on. BUT there’s a light at the end of the tunnel; after 6 months it all turns a corner and things just get BETTER AND BETTER!

Oh, one more thing regarding “hobbies” and enjoying your life overall, once ALL your kids hit 5ish years old, there’s a shift where they are all now more or less autonomous, which means you don’t have to chase after them all the time. Finally you can start focusing on yourself and your partner a bit more. Picking up traveling again, maybe staying out later, picking up old or new hobbies, and enjoying life a bit more.

Anway, that’s it enjoy the new little kiddo, take lots of pictures and videos, they really DO grow up too fast! 😭
